Madonna has denied cheating on her husband Guy Ritchie with baseball star Alex Rodriguez.

The pop superstar has recently been romantically linked to the New York Yankees star, amid rumors that she is on the verge of a divorce from her filmmaker husband.

But in a new statement to the media, the singer has again denied that she is set to separate from Ritchie and rules out an affair with Rodriguez, claiming he is just a close friend.

She tells People.com, “My husband and I are not planning on getting a divorce. I know Alex Rodriguez through Guy Oseary, who manages both of us. I brought my kids to a Yankee game. I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage or what spiritual path he may choose to study.”

Rodriguez’s wife Cynthia has reportedly blamed the Material Girl for the breakdown of her marriage.

It has also emerged that Cynthia will file for divorce on Monday.

According to PerezHilton.com, Cynthia will file papers at Dade County Family Court in Florida.

The suit cites a “long period of infidelity on the part or Mr. Rodriguez, an all-star baseball player for the New York Yankees.” It also claims “emotional abandonment.”

Cynthia’s lawyer Earle Lilly says Madonna is not named in the court papers, but adds, “We’re not gonna lose this case.”
